FTW… Update

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself for the title, it was toooooo tempting.

It seems like the digital ink on my latest note (FTWTKWIW) wasn’t even dry when I received a question from a colleague asking me, paraphrased:

Them: “Have you seen what’s happening in bonds since your last note? It appears your call for a floor is being taken out to the woodshed. Any thoughts?”

Here was my reply…

Me: You seem to be implying that what I was arguing (interest rates appear to be going higher, if not much higher) is somehow now being proved wrong. I would reconsider that thought for if it is specifically happening as a result from (my conjecture) bonds around the globe as well as bonds that have funded the AI craze suddenly being reprised if not dumped en masse.

The US Treasury is always been the first knee jerk safe harbor when things begin to get “jiggy” as I like to say. I would look at this as the first true signal that everything you and most others have been told and sold about the AI story as well as the stability of these “markets” is about to be thoroughly tested in a way most thought they’d never see again.

You heard it hear first.

Here’s a current updated chart via one hour intervals as of ~2:00pm ET today. To wit:

Many will look at the above, compare it with the prior in that earlier note and conclude: See Mark, you’re just a Chicken Little, nothing more.

That’s where I would reply using in my best French accent…

Au contraire mon ami, (see what I did there?) it’s showing my arguments are far more correct than you seem to understand.

As always, we shall see.

ADDENDUM: Here’s an updated version of my ongoing chart of the S&P 500™ at the cash close today. It’s via 15 minute increments and is self explanatory. Take from it what you will. To wit:
